Our Story

If anyone was making watches like us, we wouldn’t be making watches. We are an American company dedicated to actual classic aesthetics in watches with real modern advancement.

My grandfather's grandfather, Charles L. Thiery, was a Huguenot born in the watch-making town of Selencourt, near the Swiss border. As a child, he immigrated to Manhattan in 1832, where he became a watch case maker and over time was recognized as the pre-eminent American watch case maker of his time. The company is named in his honor.

Personally, I’m just a watch nerd who really misses quartz watches being fun and strong.

We believe that quartz can be quality, classically-sized watches look great, and that too many watches sell for too much with paltry specs. Your watch should be able to look great without compromising on being able to actually tell the time. We want to build on the past without the limitations of the past. 

Our watches are designed in the USA and manufactured by a small factory in Hong Kong to our exacting standards.

None of this is just marketing. This is a labor of love. Compare the Thiery Montana to any other field watch in the business right now. 

We made this watch to show that the greater watch industry is slacking. Don’t get me wrong; there are plenty of great watches and watch companies out there, but far too often the quality has been chipped away at and excuses have been made that really don’t make any sense. A much better watch at a more reasonable price has always been possible.
